Housework from Monster Cleaning Wood Green costs £23 for each hour of a cleaner’s time on a weekly slot, or £24 where you go fortnightly. Three hours a week, which is also the shortest slot we book, therefore comes to £69. Ironing is £12 an hour, booked as extra time on top of the cleaning.

Frequency Rate per cleaner, per hour Three hours comes to
Weekly £23 £69
Fortnightly £24 £72
Ironing, added to the cleaning hours £12

Fortnightly costs more an hour for the plain reason that a fortnight of a household living in a flat makes every room slower than a week of it does.

Ironing at £12 an hour

Twelve pounds an hour, booked on top of your cleaning time, so the kitchen and bathroom keep every minute they had. Many households add an hour or two for it and leave the basket standing by the board. Tell us which pieces matter most and those go first.

What three hours actually reaches

Picture the ordinary N22 two bedroom. In three hours you get the worktops and unit fronts, the hob and splashback, sink and taps, the whole bathroom, floors hoovered and then washed, dusting with the skirtings and door tops rotating instead of coming round every week, beds remade where you have left the linen out, and the bins done. Two hours covers a one bedroom whose kitchen has not been abandoned. Say four for a three bedroom house with stairs. An Edwardian semi carrying a loft room wants more again. Oven interiors, window glass and floors sit outside hourly work and each has a printed figure elsewhere on the site.

Keys, fobs and nobody being in

Most of our regulars are out. Wood Green and Turnpike Lane are both zone 3 on the Piccadilly line and roughly twenty minutes off the West End, so a lot of these flats empty before eight and hardly anybody wants to give up a Saturday morning letting a cleaner in. About half our regulars hand a key straight to their cleaner. The rest fit a key safe by the front door, or arrange a fob where the block runs to a concierge, which is standard in the newer High Road schemes and worth sorting at the start rather than on the first morning. Keys here go on a numbered tag with no address written on it, an alarm code is written down once and never read out over the phone, and you get your key back the day you ask for it.

Limescale is the standing job in this borough

Thames Water runs about 300 ppm across Haringey. On a weekly visit that turns into the same ten minutes every time: the shower screen, the kettle, the ring round the tap base, the shower head. Keep on top of it and it never becomes a job. Leave a bathroom here for three months and the first visit back is mostly bathroom, which is the honest reason we push people towards a fortnightly slot rather than a phone call twice a year. If a softener is fitted, say so, because the visit changes shape without scale in it.

We bring everything

Machines and materials are ours: the hoover, the cloths, sprays, cream cleaner, descaler, bathroom products and gloves, all sitting inside the hourly rate so there is nothing for you to keep stocked. Some households would rather we used theirs, usually because of a wood floor or an allergy in the house, and that is no trouble at all: leave the bottle out and say what it is for. Flag anything with rules attached early, so waxed timber, a stone worktop or a limestone bathroom floor. Paperwork stays exactly where it is. Tidying a pile of letters is how a passport goes missing.

Stairs are the local variable

West and north of the High Road it is standard Victorian terrace, and out towards Bounds Green and Turnpike Lane it turns to Edwardian semis with a loft room on most of them. East of the High Road, in the Noel Park terraces, it is one narrow single flight per house with a turn near the top. Either way it is a hoover carried up and down two or three times a visit, and that is a real part of why a three bedroom house takes longer than a three bedroom flat holding the same number of rooms. Sash boxes shed grit onto the sills. Original boards want a damp mop rather than a wet one.

Starting from a clean slate

The quickest route back from months of drift is a team deep clean first, from £186, with the weekly slot keeping it there afterwards. A move-out is the same story: the banded handover is built around the inventory checklist. Describe the state of the place and you will be pointed to whichever job suits, cheaper one included.

Notice, holidays and stopping

Nothing to sign and no minimum term. A day’s warning is all it takes to move a visit, and holidays are simple: skip as many weeks as you need. If the match does not feel right, tell us and we will send a different cleaner the following week.

One rate, seven days

8am to 7pm on every day of the week, and the price does not know what day it is. The weekly round covers N22, N8, N11, N17 and N4, with Hornsey among the busiest corners of it. Existing customers adding a carpet or an oven pay the printed figure, the same as a stranger ringing cold. Every rate is printed on the prices page and the contact page has the opening hours.

Questions we get asked

How much is a cleaner in Wood Green per hour?

Weekly work bills at £23 for every hour of a cleaner’s time and fortnightly at £24, making three hours £69 or £72, and three hours is the least we book. The figure quoted on the phone is the figure paid.

Will it be one regular person or a different face each week?

One person stays on your flat for as long as the rota permits, which is what most people ring us for. Somebody who already knows where the cloths live works faster on visit two than on visit one. Cover for holiday or illness is arranged ahead and named to you.

Do you do ironing, and what does it cost?

Yes, at £12 an hour, added on top of your cleaning hours so nothing else loses time. Tell us roughly how full the basket gets and we size the extra time to match.

How many hours do I need?

Two for a one bedroom flat, three for an average two bed, four for a three bedroom house with stairs, and more where there is a loft room. If we have it wrong in the first fortnight we say so and adjust, rather than cutting corners to make the job fit the time.

Do I need to be at home?

No. Roughly half the regular round hands a key straight to the cleaner and the rest fit a safe by the door. Fob entry governs the car-free blocks off the High Road, so we settle access with the concierge in advance rather than standing in a lobby on day one.

Is there a contract?

No contract and no minimum term. Pay per visit, skip weeks when you are away, stop when you like. A day’s notice is plenty to move or drop a visit.
