Turnpike Lane is N8, one stop south of Wood Green on the Piccadilly line, and most of what we do there sits around Ducketts Common and the roads running back off the interchange. A studio move-out clean is £156, a room of carpet £36 and weekly housework £23 per cleaner an hour. Nothing on this page is a Turnpike Lane rate. The list does not read postcodes.
Two kinds of housing inside half a mile
Edwardian semis on the roads heading north, most of them with a loft conversion on top, which usually means three flights of stairs and a hoover carried up all of them. Then the terraces closer to the Lane itself, a great many split into flats decades ago and now let room by room. One front door can hold three tenancies with three different check-out dates. When you ring, say which rooms are actually on your agreement, because that changes a quote far more than the postcode ever does.
Month end is the pinch point
Between the conversions and the licensed shared houses this is one of the most heavily rented pockets in north London, and the agreements here are mostly rolling or twelve month rather than long family lets. Check-out dates bunch as a result. The last Friday of the month goes first, without fail, so if your inventory is booked for a Friday morning then ring at the start of that week. Our move-out cleans are banded by bedroom count, which suits a shared house where nobody wants a bill growing by the hour while four people argue over whose mess the kitchen is.
The interchange decides where the van goes
Around the station the kerb belongs to the bus stands from seven in the morning, and a carpet clean takes a few hours, so tell us which floor you are on and whether there is a side or rear entrance before a time gets set.
The eastern edge of Noel Park
Westbury Avenue marks the far side of the Noel Park estate, and the terraces on that edge carry the same single narrow staircase and the same small front rooms with the chimney breast still standing. For carpet that means a hand tool on the stairs and a lot of corner work in a room the size of a modern kitchen. A flight is £41, a bedroom £36 and a living room £43 there exactly as everywhere else. The difference shows up in how long we book, not in what we charge.
What N8 costs
Handovers run £207 at one bedroom and £243 at two. On floors it is £36 for a room, £43 where it is a living room, £61 for two receptions opened up, £41 a stair flight, and rugs at £35 or £51 by size. Ovens go £77 for a single, hobs from £23 and extractors £28. Housework bills at £23 a cleaner hour on a weekly slot, £24 fortnightly, ironing £12 an hour on top of that. Hornsey shares the N8 postcode with Turnpike Lane and we tend to run the two on the same days, which is worth knowing if you want a tight arrival window.
Ducketts Common in February
Mud comes off the common all winter and it walks straight down the hallway. Between January and March half our carpet bookings on this side are a hall and a lounge and nothing else, which is about ninety minutes of work. One off jobs meet a £67 minimum, so a single room at £36 is billed at £67, and so is a hall and lounge together (£65 on the list). Put the flight in with them and the £106 total clears it. Every figure sits on the prices page and 020 8077 9085 is answered 8am to 7pm, seven days.
Questions we get asked
Do you charge more to come to Turnpike Lane?
It costs exactly what it costs in Wood Green. We are one stop up the line, and the N8 list is the N22 list, down to the £41 flight of stairs.
Can you clean just my rooms in a shared house?
Yes. A lot of the terraces around the Lane are let room by room, so we price your rooms plus whatever share of the kitchen and bathroom the agreement puts on you. Have the tenancy agreement to hand when you ring if you are not sure.
How quickly can you get to us?
Two or three days for most of the month. The final week is tight because everybody’s check-out lands on the same Friday, so give us a week where you are moving at month end. Evening and weekend slots run at the same rate.
