Bounds Green work is nearly all semis. Edwardian, bay windows, wider roads, front gardens, and a loft room on most of them, which is what the housing turns into as you head north west up the High Road into N11. It is the next Piccadilly line station after Wood Green. Carpet starts at £36 a room, a double oven is £110 and weekly housework £23 per cleaner an hour.
Three floors and a machine that has to reach the top one
Nearly all the Edwardian stock up here has been extended into the loft. Lovely spare room. Awkward for carpet kit. Two flights at £41 each plus a landing at £9 is the standard booking on these houses, and the top flight is done with a hand tool, tread by tread. Where the loft stair is the steep straight sort with a bannister on one side only, say so at the booking, because a climb like that slows the set-up and we would rather book the time than run short.
Two stations pulling in opposite directions
Bowes Park is a short walk away and puts you on Great Northern services into Moorgate and King’s Cross, while Bounds Green tube runs the Piccadilly the other way towards the West End. Between them they fill this area with households where both people are out from eight until seven. Key safes are normal here. Evening slots go quickly, here and up the hill in Alexandra Park, and we work to 7pm on all seven days at the same rate as the middle of a Tuesday.
What gets booked on this side
Family houses, mostly, which means more weekly and fortnightly cleaning than anywhere else on the round, at £23 and £24 per cleaner an hour with ironing at £12 an hour added on top. More family sized cooker work as well, since these kitchens tend to hold a double at £110 or a 90cm range at £143 rather than the single you find in a converted flat, and the two oven AGA at £143 turns up here more than anywhere except the Alexandra Park slope. Move-out cleans come round more slowly than in N22 proper, because the lets are longer and families stay put.
Back doors, gardens and hall carpets
A back door onto a garden does more damage to a hallway than any amount of traffic through the front, and it is the lawn that does it. Spring is our busiest run of hall and lounge work up here, once the grass has been crossed a few hundred times. A bedroom, a living room and one flight comes to £120, which clears the £67 minimum on one off work comfortably. Rugs are £35 up to 3m² and £51 over. Every figure holds across the whole round and 020 8077 9085 reaches a person.
Questions we get asked
Is Bounds Green charged at the same rate as Wood Green?
Yes. One list covers N11, N22 and N8 alike. Two bedrooms is £243 up here just as it is down on the High Road, and a stair flight is £41 wherever it stands.
Can you clean a loft room carpet?
Yes, at the ordinary bedroom price of £36. Tell us about the stairs when you book. A steep straight flight adds time at the start and the end, and we allow for that in the slot.
Do you work evenings?
To 7pm, seven days, at the same rate. A good share of Bounds Green bookings are after six for exactly that reason and they fill up first, so a week of notice helps where you need a particular evening.
